Right now, if you buy an RV and it turns out to be a lemon, chances are, in the end, you will lose. Take it back to the dealer, argue with the manufacturer, file a class action and shake your fists in front of the judge, or go up to your roof and shout how mad you are – nothing will work.

Sadly, consumers in the RV industry are at a crippling disadvantage. The elephants in the room are the RVIA and the RVDA, Recreational Vehicle Industry Association and the Recreational Vehicle Dealer Association. Such behemoths are the ones who call the shots. At this very moment, both of these mammoth associations have lobbyists slipping c-notes into politician’s pockets to ensure legislation is crafted to create a favorable business environment for who they represent.

The RV Advisor is always on your side

With your help, the RV Advisor will create the RVACA, Recreational Vehicle Advisor Consumer Association. When this is done, we will cause a lot of noise in the room! Our Rv Lemon Law Assistance Fund will support consumers blindly throwing punches in a David versus Goliath battle. Most people can’t afford to take an RV industry leader to court. Even if you can afford a lawyer, the chances of winning the case are slim to none.

There is only one way to scare these goliaths. Mention a lemon law, and these two giants become timid little kittens. At the end of the year, if you are wealthy and rich enough to attend either association’s hob-knob party, they will toast their glasses of champagne and announce the year’s greatest triumph was shattering a lemon law.

The RVA website states: Motorhomes are discretionary purchases that are not the primary means of transportation for such daily activities. Instead, motorhomes are designed to provide temporary living quarters for recreational, seasonal, camping or travel use….Most states that include motorhomes in lemon laws exempt the “house half” of the vehicle, but this often leads to confusion for both the state’s lemon law administrator and the consumer.

Don’t fret, blood-thirsty RV industry leaders, according to the RVIA website, those consumers who bought your broken down and defective RVs are out of luck, and will definitely lose the class action lawsuit.

The RV Advisor is the only one in the RV Consumer’s corner

In case you haven’t noticed, the quality of RVs are declining. Read this article if you need some proof, RVACA – How to Stop the Rise in Defectively Produced RVs. With the industry in the hands of RV boardroom titans, no one should be surprised to hear that RVs are pieces of junk compared to a few decades ago. The only thing the RVIA and RVDA care about is increasing profits, and the easiest way to accomplish this is by lowering labor costs.

As a result of this RV quality epidemic, chances of buying an RV lemon are really high. Every state has different lemon laws regarding RVs. All of them, however, make it difficult for the consumer to sue. For all we know, the politicians who wrote those laws were working in conjunction with the RVIA and RVDA lobbyists. For example, Indiana will only consider an RV a lemon after a “Reasonable number of repair chances or reasonable amount of time to complete repair during warranty.” Your guess on what “reasonable” means is a good as mine.

The RV Advisor Lemon Law Assistance Fund

If you are an RV consumer, arguing right now with the dealership about how the reason your RV is defective is your fault – wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or maybe the problem does not even affect the use or safety of the vehicle – you are plenty furious.

Finally, there is some light at the end of that dark tunnel for the RV Consumer. The RV Advisor is setting up a relief fund, so that as long as you are a member of the RV Advisor, and you get sold an RV lemon, you will not be alone. We will fight for you and make sure you are legally protected.
